Here are our suggestions of things to do in Los Angeles this weekend…
Friday Flights at the Getty
Ride the monorail to the Getty select Fridays during the summer for this art-centric take on a tasting flight. Each month, a different LA-based artist or musician collaborates with the Getty to put together a night of musical performances, curated playlists and gallery talks, all inspired by a current exhibition at the museum. Translation? Some damn good music and a cash bar at one of the most scenic spots in the city.

Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival
You don’t need us to tell you how great Los Angeles’ food scene is. But if you’re in need of a friendly reminder, splurge on a ticket to the sixth annual Food & Wine Festival held in Downtown LA and at restaurants across the city. The festival will kick off on Thursday with the premiere of Amazon’s Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse, as the chef hosts a night of international tastings from his celebrity colleagues: think José Andrés, Mario Batali, Danny Bowien, Marcus Samuelsson and more. Friday offers a number of lunches and dinners around LA, along with fan favorite Grand Avenue Night Market in the evening. On Saturday, Live on Grand—yet another massive tasting event infront of the Walt Disney Concert Hall—will take place. More events are in the works, but you can check out the full lineup and purchase tickets here.

Clear the Nursery
You know you’ve scooped up a kitten before and thought about taking him home. Well, do exactly that during Best Friends Animal Society’s “Clear the Nursery” event—how could you say no to these faces? The Mission Hills shelter is looking for loving foster parents who can care for a kitten—or an entire litter. Orientations take place at 9am, 1pm and 4pm, after which you’ll be all set to care for the kittens until they reach two pounds. At that point they’ll be ready to be fixed and put up for adoption.
